Preventive Medicine
For adults, integrated naturopathic care screens us carefully with conventional and specialized testing to detect changes early, when lifestyle changes are most effective. These tests include basic cholesterol and blood sugar screening, as well as other personalized testing to assess risk based on your family history.

For women, annual exams with pap smears and clinical breast exams are the mainstay of preventive medicine. Many women prefer a naturopathic approach to gynecological care for an educational and personalized experience. An hour is scheduled for annual exams, to ensure that all questions are answered and any reproductive, gynecological, and general health concerns can be addressed. Dr. Kaplan has extensive experience in first exams and perimenopausal exams.

For infants and children, Dr. Kaplan can perform well baby and child exams, and offer counsel regarding vaccinations, the introduction of foods, and other dietary concerns.

Dr. Kaplan works closely with acupuncturists and conventional medical doctors to help women conceive. This integrated and holistic approach improves our chances of a healthy pregnancy.

Acute Care
Sometimes you need to see a doctor right away when you are sick.

Whether you have the flu or a urinary tract infection, Dr. Kaplan can diagnose and treat acute conditions, while assessing the bigger picture to prevent recurrence of infections. Many patients are first introduced to naturopathic medicine through treatment of their acute conditions and find they are generally healthier after using this holistic approach. When necessary, Dr. Kaplan has the ability to prescribe conventional pharmaceuticals to treat such conditions.

Chronic Care
Many of us have ongoing health issues. Whether we have back pain, high cholesterol and blood pressure, or mood changes, all of us can benefit from naturopathic medicine. Dr. Kaplan takes an integrated approach to chronic care to promote the best possible state of health for you. Naturopathic modalities can be used alongside prescription medications, if necessary, to improve health outcomes. Labwork and other markers are tracked carefully to ensure positive changes.

A naturopathic approach is applied to all conditions, including allergies, skin conditions, digestive disorders, gynecologic concerns, cardiovascular health, autoimmune disorders, and hormone imbalances. This list is by no means exhaustive. Dr. Kaplan is happy to speak with you before you make an appointment to ensure that her approach is a proper fit for you and your health concerns.

Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system, comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Dr. Kaplan has seen craniosacral therapy help conditions such as migraines, TMJ disorders, chronic sinus infections, asthma, anxiety, and musculoskeletal pains, while addressing the potential emotional tie to pain and illness. Craniosacral therapy also helps us manage our stress response. Newborns benefit greatly from a craniosacral treatment after birth. Dr. Kaplan offers craniosacral home visits for newborns and in the first four weeks of life.

Craniosacral is also a gentle way to treat ailments during pregnancy, including digestive issues and back, pelvic, and pubic pain.
